It is expected to be the real-time component of manufacturing facility's enterprise management and control system. An integrated control system can apply both PLC and DCS technologies to combine all their advantages in which can constitute totally integrated automation in industry that lead to large socio-economic advantages. This study is concerned with the application of programmable logic controller and distributed control system for existing chlorine injection systems in thermal power plants by using PCS7 software as if a case study. An example operating chlorine system is studied and analyzed thoroughly. Main functional modules of PCS7 software: SIMATIC Manager, WinCC, hardware configurations and simulation are studied to apply for this system as an automatic control model of some chemical treatment systems.
