Multifactor concrete mix design

By: Call Number: AIT Thesis no. 847 Contributor(s): Material type: TextSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. 847Publication details: Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1975Description: 62 pSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1975 Summary: In this thesis, several proportioning methods for both the normal weight concrete and the light weight concrete have been reviewed. The unit water method is used for normal weight concrete and the ACI method with some modifications is used for light weight concrete. A comparison has been made between two methods based on multifactor optimization principle and on monofactor optimization principle respectively. These two programs are nearly the same from an economic point of view , if the same water cement ratio-strength relationship is used. The information stored in the computer is for a particular aggregate and ordinary Portland cement. Therefore, the program cannot be considered generally applicable for all aggregate and cement types. Because of the lack of information, trial mix adjustment is proposed for strength and workability only; adjustment techniques for volume change, thermal conductivity and sound transmission are recommended for future research.
