Deforestation bring about many environmtJntal problems. One of main problem is change in water regime. Remote Sensing and GIS give watershed researchers a new and powerful tool to acquire information for envirnnmental planning. The use of remote sensing and GIS in simple empirical Soil Conservation Service runoff curve number hydrologic method to estimate inflow volume running into the reservoir of Nam Ngum hydro-power station to find out the impact of deforestation on the inflow as on electricity production. The results of this study shown that electricity production trended to decrease while forest area has decreased. The relationship between electricity product and forest area was either depended on rainfall pattern.
