  <abstract>This study discusses the role of CSR for packaged food companies in France. It gives an  overview how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is perceived by governments,  consumers and companies in the food industry in France and it highlights the actions that  have been taken up to now. It studied the French legal framework and government actions  for CSR. The role of lobbyists on companies' CSR policies is also considered. Danone  Group and its CSR policy are taken as a case study. Finally, the report suggests some  recommendations for further improvements. </abstract>
