  <abstract>A dynamic programming approach is used to simulate the operation of a  natural gas transmission network. Steady-state gas flow is assumed for the  determination of optimal pressure profiles for a radial transmission network . A  new generalized computation scheme is used used in the calculation of the  steady-state conditions; t al&lt;ing into consideration the variations in the required  delivery and supply pressures, changes in flowrates, and the operation of valves  and compressors. Each pipe, valve or compressor is modelled by its appropriate  equation without the necessity of linearization. The operation of the Onshore  Gas Pipeline Network of the Petroleum Authority of Thailand ls presented as a  test case to illustrate the feasibility of the model.</abstract>
