  <abstract>Construction of offshore breakwater on a sandy beach leads to the formation of a sandy protuberance, called "tombolo", behind the breakwater. Eventually the protrusion attains an equilibrium shape . The development of such protrusion as well as overall storage patterns in the beach behind the breakwater was investigated in small wave basin, the variables being wave height, wave period and length of offshore breakwater while the original beach slope and depth of water were constant. The net deposition of sand behind offshore breakwater tend to increase with increasing wave height, All the experiments were run under no replenishment of sand from the upcoast side. One experiment was run with sand feeding from the upcoast  side with a view to simulate the' littoral drift. " The net sand deposition behind ©offshore breakwater is less than the corresponding no replenishment  case.</abstract>
