This study deals with the kinetics of steady state flocculation in a continuous flow turbulent flocculator . In a water treatment system the effluent from the flocculator is usually loaded onto the filter for further treatment through filtration. Hence, it is important to know the effluent micro floc concentration for the design of filters. In the first part of this study an attempt has been made to check the validity of a model developed for the prediction of the effluent micro floc concentration. Also, the behavior of a parameter in the model has been studied. In the second part of this study, a simulation of the flocculation process using the computer was done to develop a dimensionless chart for the prediction of the ultimate floe volume in a flocculator. The values obtained through simulation and the experimental results obtained in a previous study have been compared. From this study H was found that the model developed is valid when the time taken for ultimate state is about twice the time taken in a batch type flocculator. Also, the value of p was found to be in the range of 1/3 to 1/45 UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B21619 ER -
