All the piles were 2 m long. They were spliced together at the site to form 4 m and 6 m spliced piles. Three of each group were driven into the ground. Short-term full scale load tests for determination of the failure load were carried out on five spliced-piles. One out of each group was subjected to long-term loading of which the design working load of 1 ton was applied and maintained constant throughout the testing period. Inclination of the spliced piles were measured by the strain-gauges mounted on PVC tubes.
