Eng..) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1987 N2 - This research study is a preliminary attempt to analyse the energy system situation and its evolution in Nepal. The study focusses on the trends in fuelwood consumption pattern and its substitutibility particularly in the domestic sector , the main consumer of total energy and fuelwood in Nepal. Its interlinks with the trends in mi gration and the forest situation was treated in more detail. The tool selected for the study was the MEDEES simulation model based on applied system analysis as it provides easy way to trade off between data availability and relibility. The result obtained showed that fuelwood substitution by commercial fuels seems not feasible nor desirable at least for the forseeable future. The better way to deal with the fuelwood scarecity problem is to regulate the traditional energy supplies by discouraging Hills to Terai migration on the one hand and increasing the afforestation on the other UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B18990 ER -
