  <abstract>The system of the abacus, a computing apparatus with a very simple physical configuration, has very sophisticated structural concepts. It is the only tool which can present all aspects of the basic arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It is not an intelligent device, but relies on the human intelligence operating it. This research studies the system and simulation of the abacus. </abstract>
