  <abstract>In the past decade, the number or hogs in Taiwan has  increased rapidly. Pig production brings profit to farmers, but  also causes serious pollution problem.  Using anaerobic fermentation to treat swine wastes can not  only solve this problem but also produce biogas as an energy  source.  It has been estimated that 0 . 3 m3 or bi ogas was produced per  day per hog when hog wastes were anaerobically treated, and the  total biogas production will be 7 . 7 x 10 8 m3 /year.  In this study will describe  anaerobic digestion and introduce  utilization in Taiwan.</abstract>
