  <abstract>This study aimed to evaluate the flocculation and  sedimentation performances in treating chromium wastewater by  a few regionally available reagents-Kaolinite Clay (mesh no.  275, 380 and 500), Bentonite, Diatomite, and Alum.  The experiment started at finding the dosage requirements  and detentio~ time required in a suitable pH range for the  reduction of hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium by  Ferrous Sulfate and Sodium Metabisulfite. Varying amounts of  flocculants (200, 300 and 400 mq z L) were used in Jar Tests to  find the optimum dosage. The results from the Jar Test were applied to  Scale Plant to check the flocculation capability  during a continuous flow. a Pilot    It was found that Clay can be used to' flocculate the  precipitates of metal hydroxides in a more concentrated sludge  form.  </abstract>
