The purpose of this study was to collect : wailahle information of biogas technology ln Myanmar and work out digester performance amd economic analysis of 4.25 111' digester volume and 8.21 m' digester volume hased on 1991 official p1ices and market ptices. From the results, the digester perfotmance (arithematic average gas production rate) was found nearly same as in other cow1tries. Rconomic analysjs shows that both plant. were not economically feasible when the costs are based on market price. On the other hand, the larger plant was found to he more economical than the smaller one based on offlcial price. The national program planned to install 2.000 hiogas plants of four various si7.es by the year 1988-89, hut the program could not he implemented imccesfully because of h igh Investment cost involved in the project, and till now only 906 biogas plants have been installed.
