The depth-averaged velocity and temperature distribution in open channel are investigated by using a two - dimensional mathematical model with the aid of the so-called K-€ turbulence model. The model is applied to the heated . side discharge into open channel, where the recirculation zone develops downstream of the discharge. Investigation of size of recirculation zone, velocity and temperature distribution, isotherms and dilution were tested with various size of channel and wide range of discharge to channel velocity ratios. The results agree reasonably well with those obtained by McGuik and Rodi (1978) as well as experimental data of Mikhai l et. al (1975) .
