Metro Manila or the National Capital Region of the Philippines is presently experiencing rapid urbanization and industrialization which entail many hydrological problems typical of any developing country. In spite of great efforts of the local and national government , basic human needs with respect to water supply, sanitation and wastewater disposal are not satisfied. Environmental degradation , especially water pollution, remains continually unabated in the metropolis . The problems are large ly attributed to lack of sound management of Metro Manila's urban water. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the water problems of Metro Manila from an integrated perspective to come up with recommendations so that remedial measures can be worked out. An investigation and col l ection of data related to the city's existing water supply systems and sewerage / sanitation facilities were carried out . The collected data and the present situation of the problems were ana lyzed extensively covering the technical , institutional, financial , social, e nvironmental, and management aspects. Some technological considerations for the improvement of Metro Manila's water supply and sewerage systems are proposed . The recommendations developed from the results of the integrated analyses are presented in the final chapter of this study .
