Due to rapid urbanization, water consumption is increasing speedily during recent decades. Despite great efforts have been done, the daily life of residents and economic activities are continuously threatened in the city . Because of the limitations of sound water management in Beijing the water resources exploitation and utilization are not rational and economically efficient. The water environment has been degraded in varying levels. The aim of this study is to find suitable measures to improve water management in Beijing. An investigation and collection of data related to water management was carried out . The study has made appraisal on the amount of water available and water demands in the region. Reasonable policies, feasible alternatives and institutional management measures are recommended from the study for water management strategies.
