The physical and chemical properties were assessed. The flow variations were measured. The results indicated that the waste contained very high COD, most of it was soluble and biologically degradable, the nitrogen and phosphorous were low compared with COD concentrations . The biological treatability was evaluated, the results showed the feasibility of using biological treatment method for this waste. Activated sludge and aerated lagoon were studied Batch-activated sludge process showed that the oxidation of organic matters was very rapidly in the first 4 hours, endogenous respiration took place after 4 hours aeration. The design parameters were determined according to ECKENFELDER's approach. From continuous-fed activated sludge process study, the optimum loading rate was 1.0 gm COD/gm MLSS-day. The design parameters were also determined according to ECKENFELDER's approach. The COD removal efficiency was about 92%. Aerated lagoon efficiency operated at different detention times was determined, 7 days detention time was considered as optimum time, the efficiency was about 90%. The design parameters, sludge production and oxygen requirement were determined. The budget and land available are two important constraints used in the consideration of the suitable waste treatment method for the industry. The study of existed aerated lagoon was also carried out, the improvements of it were suggested.10aSewage disposal10aFactory and trade waste1 aNguyen Cong Thanh, eChairpeson0 aSamorn Muttamara, eCo-Chairperson1 a Asian Institute of Technology, eScholarship Donor2 aAsian Institute of Technology.tThesis ;vno. 758 3Full-Textuhttp://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B24231
