LLMO was the mixed culture bacteria used in this study . Due to the limitation of the system used, stringent conditions were faced in testing LLMO ability. Under the loadings of 1. 3 and 1. 9 mg COD/mg MLSS. d whence MLSS equal ed to 3 and 2 g/l respectively including reduced aeration at the on-off aeration cycl ing period equaled to 2 h, no significant difference in COD r emoval ef ficiency between the LLMO enhanc ed system and control were observed. When the on-off aeration cycling period extended to 3 h, excessive bulking occurred within 3 days. In case of shock loading study only the condition at the on-off aeration cycling period equaled to 2 h and 100% increase of influent flow rate were runned leading to excessive bulking occurring within 5-7 day.
