However, in some cases, the product is not practical and this could be adjusted and checked by Hardy Cross. The new method is applicable for the optimum design at one run when the constraint is set up accurately. Moreover, the determination of short- est path, the change of objective function and the extensification design employing the equivalent pipe principle demonstrate their capability. However, it is observed that the new model is sensitive to the particular type of layout. Although several runnings are needed by Hardy Cross, the method is applicable for the design as well as checking. However, this method is sensitive to the initial guess of pipe which affects the solution which therefore does not converge. Moreover, to be sure that this design is optimum, the result should be compared to the result of the linear optimization model. Finally, the combination of the linear optimization model and the· Hardy Cross method produces a higher quality result compared to the ori- ginal Hardy Cross. ER -
