The duplication of the size distribution curves of 0.19 mm and 0.JJ mm sands, given in Basic data from flume experiments by Simons and Richardson(6) and Daranandana(5) was achieved by the VA-tube test. The duplicated sands were then analyzed by the method of sieve analysis. The dimensionless sediment transport intensity ØT and the dimensionless shear intensity parameter |' were calculated using Einstein's method as based on sieve and VA-tube tests. Curves relating ØT and |' were then plotted. For 0.19 mm sand the ØT - |' curves indicate no signi- ficant change. However, the ØT - |' curves of 0.33 mm sand show an appreciable error if the calculations are performed on different size distribution curves.
