Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1986 N2 - The experiments were carried out on an open combustion chamber, 36 kW. 3-cylinder, Kirloskar RBV3 diesel engine. For different loads of O, 8.9, 17.5,and 23 kW. were applied to the engine at a constant speed of 1500 rpm. Three injection timings at 24°, 29°, and 34° B.T.D .C. were adjusted. In dual fuel operation mode Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) was introduced to the engine. The results shown that LPG can be efficiently use in dual fuel operation from middle to high loads. The optimal injection timing is at 24° B.T.D.C. either in dual fuel or pure diesel operation mode. At high load LPG could be added up to 70% of the total energy input without decrease in thermal efficiency. The optimal proportion of 40% LPG at 23 kW. provided the maximum brake thermal efficiency of 32.4% which is higher than that in pure diesel operation mode UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B19504 ER -
