CNC machines are now widely used in manufacturing systems because of their clear advantage over conventional machines in flexibility, less workpiece set up requirement and better quality. Today's machine tools are extremely flexible and often manufacture specific to the customer's needs. The immense variety of application for machine tools and a growing number of newly developed manufacturing technologies also require flexible, easy to adapt numerical control systems. Presently, CNC control adjustment to a specific machine tool is done by the machine tools builder through a large number of parameters setting and diagrams. Maintenance and modification of functionality are often impossible or only possible in a very difficult manner and only by the vendor himself with very high cost. The main objective of this study is to develop a real time CNC Kernel with Open Architecture. The control is developed based on the dynamics of stepper motors, permanent magnetic synchronous motors and the dynamics of the machining system. The control algorithm is constructed for a three-axis milling machine.
