Special Studies Project Report (M. Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1982

A study has been carried out to design and implement a Cross-Compiler, which can convert a subset of the PL/I programming language into the machine instructions of a 6802 microprocessor. The Cross-Compiler has been implemented with the PL/I programming 1a ngua.ge and tested on an IBM 3031 computer. The compilation process has been divided into two parts: conversion of the PL/I subset language into a general assembly code, commonly used in many microprocessors; and the conversion of this assembly code into the specific machine instructions of a 6802 microprocessor. The main procedure of the compilation has been performed by using the approach called RECURSIVE DESCENT PARSING.
