  <abstract>This study deals with the problem of determining the rainfall distribution associated with cyclones over the tropical area. The daily rainfall data of 12 raingauge stations in Bicol river basin, southern Luzon, Philippines and 65 well-documented cyclones of recent years (1970-1972) crossing the Philippines are examined and analyzed in this study. The distribution of cyclonic rainfall intensity over a region is mostly affected by the pressure drop at the center of the cyclones and radial distance far from it. The results of the analysis showed a linear relationship between the rainfall intensity and the radial distance, and the maximum cyclonic rainfall intensity was found as a function of pressure  drop with a power of 3/2. The shorter period of 6-hr and 3-hr interval rainfall intensity in  some raingauge stations in Philippines are also used in analysis to compare with the one in Bicol river basin. The results have more or less the  same distribution as the one from Bicol river basin, such that the relationships obtained from this study seems to be applicable over the Philippines.</abstract>
