The wall and the base plate are further assumed to be constructed monolithically. The structure is separated into three domains as follows: (a) a cylindrical shell, (b) a circular base plate within the cylindrical shell, and (c) an annular base plate outside the cylindrical shell. The stress resultants are obtained from the solution of the three equations governing the shell and the plates. It is observed that, in comparison with the proposed method of analysis, a cylindrical tank designed by the conventional method assuming the shell to be fixed at the base may be unsafe at the base; and, if designed by assuming uniform subsoil reaction, the structure would be too conservative UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B24049 ER -
