Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1984 aThe aim of the present study is to investigate t he possibility of extracting energy from rice husk by the process of gasification which can be used to run rice mills, produce electricity and to meet other rural needs. Two laboratory scale gas producers were designed, constructed and tested for rice husk. Each of the gas producers was designed to have an energy output of 20 kw. and both of them were run in the down draft mode. Two types of grate design, feed mechanisms, ash disposal system were tested. Gas produced at various air flow rate were tested. The design details of individual parts of the two gasifiers, cooling and the cleaning units are described elaborately with figures. The construction procedure of the gasifiers and the other units are also described briefly. Rice husk was gasified in their natural form. The economic analysis of the producer gas technology was also carried out. 0aRice hulls as fuel 0aGas-producers1 aBhattacharya, Sribas C., eChairperson0 aPrida Wibulswas, eExamination Committee1 aReddy, T.
