Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1981 N2 - A suitable recharging site was first located based on geologic, hydrau lic and subsoil data. Subsoil parameters and hydraulic data were then collected for design. Based on the results of past studies and stability calculation, it is possible to construct a recharge trench in Bangkok area using water as a stabilizing fluid. The effect of pit_ geometry and aquifer properties on flow rate had been analyzed by an exact theory proposed by KIRKHAM (1959) and it is noted that the effect of pit penetration on flow rate diminishes as pit diameter increases. The head loss due to clogging in .filters had also been studied by- a model modified from that of IVES(1960a). A feasibility study on design and construction aspects of a 11.0 metres diameter cylindrical recharge pit having zero penetration into the aquifer by precast segment method sunk as a caisson has been carried out.
