There are different types of fibers used in fiber reinforced concrete for construction work such as steel fiber, glass fiber, carbon fiber, polypropylene fiber, polyester fiber, macro synthetic fiber, micro synthetic fiber, natural fiber, cellulose fiber and so on. This research discusses steel fibers. Steel fibers can improve the structural strength to reduce the heavy steel reinforcement requirement. Freeze thaw resistance of the concrete is improved. The durability of the concrete is improved to reduce the crack widths. This research provides the design of a simply supported slab bridge using steel fiber reinforced concrete. Two types of slab length have been considered in this research: one with a 3 meter simply supported span and other with the 6 meter simply supported span. This research also provides the design of simply supported slab bridge with conventional reinforced concrete and steel fiber reinforced concrete having both 3 meter and 6 meters simply supported span. Then a comparison was made between the FRC bridge and the conventional RC bridge that can withstand the same load in terms of weight and amount of material used. In this research, the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification and ACI code 318-19 have been used for RC design. For FRC design, RILEM TC 162-TDF (v-f design method) and Eurocode 2 {u2013} design of concrete structure has been used. Finally, a comparison has been made between the moment capacity of sections in terms of different depth of cross section, different rebar diameter and different dosage of Steel fiber. It has also been shown the comparison of shear capacity of a member for different dosage of steel fiber and without any steel fiber. At the end, it has been observed that the use of steel fiber reinforced concrete can reduce total concrete volume required by reducing the member depth and also can reduce the reinforcement and as well as increase the shear capacity compared to conventional reinforcement concrete.
