The idealized stress-strain curves of ferrocement in tension and compression have been assumed and the behaviour of the material in pure bending has also been studied. Explicit expressions for determining the modulus of elasticity in tension, crack width, moment-curvature and moment def lection relations have been derived. In deriving the moment-deflection relations, an approximate tri- linear moment curvature curve has been used. The analytical predictions have been found to be in good agreement with experimental results of previous research workers. In the light of the findings of previous research workers, tentative specifications to be followed in the design and construction of ferrocement have been suggested. Procedures to be followed in designing ferrocement structural elements in direct tension and in pure flexure are suggested. Illustrative examples are also incorporated. 0aFerrocement1 aPama, Ricardo P., eChairperson1 aKarasudhi, Pisidhi, eExamination Committee1 aTanabe, Tada-Aki, eExamination Committee2 aUnited Nations Development Programme in Bangladesh, eScholarship Donor2 aAsian Institute of Technology.tThesis ;vno. 1325 3Full-Textuhttp://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B22922
