  <abstract>The purpose of this research was to find out the adjustment to be made in determining the optimum asphalt content of Hot-Mix Asphalt paving mixtures in tropical regions by the Marshall method of mix design. The maximum asphalt content is normally obtained from Marshall stability and flow values at 60°C. In countries located in the tropics, temperatures of road pavements frequently rise to 80°C during the day time in the dry season. As a result, the resistance to deformation of pavements is less than expected. Adjustments have been made by finding correlation ratios for stability and flow values for specimens of mixtures of given asphalt content tested at 60°C and 80°C. This research also found the relationship between the Marshall method and the Duriez method, which uses the surface area of the aggregate, to determine the asphalt content of hot-mix paving materials.</abstract>
