N2  - This study concerns with the developing a quality system in a manufacturing company in  Vietnam. The first stage of this study focuses on implementing ISO 9002 quality system  standard in order to create the total quality environment inside the company. The study  reviews and evaluates the activity planing such as scheduling, resource management for ISO  9002 implementatio!l that is now being carried out in the company. The compliance with ISO  9002 requirements had been analysed. Some samples of quality document are created to meet  the ISO 9002 requirements and to be a foundation for implementing TQM' s selected  functions. The next stage of this study is to examine the implementation of TQM techniques  for quality improvement. The investigations of production performance of a typical product  are carried out to analyse the proportion of non conforming product, the process capability,  and cost of non-conformance. The output is described and analysed. Finally, the  recommendation for developing a quality system in Vietnamese industry including the  implementation of ISO 9000 quality system standard and extension to TQM implementation  is proposed.
