  <abstract>This study presents a Goal Programming model of production planning and scheduling in multiproduct, multiperiod and multistage production system. An important point in multistage production system is that workforce of all stages can not be combined together in order to find out optimal production and work force levels. So stages has been divided into two types.  (1)Those whose workforce is transferable to other stages and (2) those whose workforce is non-transferable to other stages because these stages require specialized knowledge and skill. Like many other real life problems, production planning also involves multiple conflicting objectives. Unlike other models, these objectives have been considered individually and for this purpose Goal Programming approach is used. A hypothetical example is solved to test the model. Problems encountered in solving the problem by computer programs are discussed. Sensitivity analysis is performed by various arrangements of the goal priority levels. </abstract>
