Image processing and machine vision has become an important part of the modern robotics technology. It allows the robot to learn about the surrounding through observation, like humans do. Image Processing and machine vision will lead us to build a super intelligent robots in the future. A robot which is capable of understanding the environment and also to adjust according to it or to perform several tasks according to the requirement. Application such as, measuring objects, facial recognition, security applications and sporting scenario are few of the applications that has been already manufactured. In this project I adopted a scenario from the game Air Hockey to build an object blocking robot arm. This robot arm will automatically block the incoming disk (object), to prevent scoring a goal or preventing the object passing by. This system, which acts on one dimensional plain, has the ability of identifying the object, predicts its trajectory and move the arm in order to prevent it passing by. As a target of creating an intelligent robot, I believe this project will be a result of an economical, effective and intelligent robot.
