  <abstract>Managing Networks is a challenging and demanding task. It becomes all the more complicated with large networks. It is then necessary to have management software for all devices as well as information about the networks. As of today, most network devices have their individual management modules, so management is decentralized. The future trend is towards centralizing the network management system. This calls for integrating all the network devices and maintaining a centralized database containing information about the network. This study proposes a new mechanism for managing the networks by using Directory Enabled Network (DEN) architecture along with Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI). This mechanism is powerful enough to meet the demands of network management. DEN is a specification to store information in the form of classes in a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Database. Using JNDI, the users can access the information via LDAP protocol. This architecture has been implemented as a test phase in the Computer Science department network - Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.  </abstract>
