  <abstract>In this study , the distributed effects of GDP, price and  number of customers on electricity demand were explored using  various techniques. Simple regression using Ordinary Least  Squares and Yule Walker Method of Estimation failed to  the lagged relationship. Similarly, the transfer  approach using the Box-Jenkins procedure showed no  relationship.  capture  function  dynamic  A geometric lag scheme was introduced to identify the  dynami c response of e l ectricity demand to changes in various  determinants. The derived models obtained using this formulation  were conceptually simple and economica l ly plausible.  The study showed that there was a delayed adjustment of  demand, notabl y to price, in all sectors as well as for the  aggregate. The price effects were spread over a longer period in  the industrial sector . The impact on the residential sector on  the other hand, was relatively more immediate.</abstract>
