For this study a six-month survey was conducted of inputs and outputs on 50 farms in four villages in zone 2 of Mahaweli system {u2018}C{u2019} area. Data was collected through personal interviews of the farmers from October 1990 to March 1991. It was found that the power tiller users for l and preparation had the highest production per ha per season resulting in the highest income. Results indicated that there was no significant difference in labour use in power tiller farms when compared with animal powered and mixed (animal and tiller) powered farms. It was noted that there exists a very good scope for introducing proper mechanization technology levels for operations such as transplanting weeding and reaping. It was also noted that existing methods of threshing and spraying can be improved to give better results UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B17128 ER -
