In this study some factors affecting this sizing loss, such as filler type, pH of stock, and storage conditions of sized paper were studied. Cobb test was used to determine and follow the development of water resistance of the AKD sized laboratory handsheets. It was found that the initial degree of sizing was critical. If the paper was sufficiently sized, no reversion occurred. High AKD addition can prevent size reversion due to any of the studied variables. AKD was an efficient sizing agent in the absence of filler. When filler was added, sizing performance of paper was suffered. Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) need lower amount of AKD than Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) to get adequate sizing. However, if it was not sized sufficiently, size reversion was higher and faster than GCC. High pH of stock and tropical climate boost size reversion at high PCC loading levels. But the effect was small at low addition level.
