Within the surficial deposits three layers of iron oxides, in form of massive beds, or laterites, or ferricrete, are found. The physical and engineering properties of these soils were determined. These soil formations are genetically associated with the type of landforms on which they are found. The landform features found in the area include two terraces, a flood plain and numerous lakes and swamps. Surface water is the main water supply of the town. Ground water cannot be fully developed because of the high salinity content. The only common hazard in the area is flood during the rainy season which occurs annually UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B23138 ER -
