These plants emit pollutants to the environment. This study concentrates on developing a set of environmental policies a nd guide lines which a r e low cost but able to alleviate the most serious impacts created by these power plants . An eclectic methodology was used to quantify, to the extent possible , effects of these plants on the air, water a nd the noise it creates. The results show that these plants can be hazardous to the environment if no measures are taken.
