The study was focused on establishment and management of three widely adaptable fodder tree species - namely Leucaena leucocephala, Leucaena diversifolia and Gliricidia sepium using vegetative propagation as well as seed on different planting media. Observations on the behaviour in pruning of L. l'eucocephala and sepium for the production of fodder with different management systems were also carried out. The management systems included different heights and frequencies of pruning. Q.:_ sepium plants were subjected to stem bending method (Agobiada) to stimulate more biomass production. The soil media do not seem to influence much in the establishme n t of Leucaena and Gliricidia. However, the medium sized stem cuttings showed comparatively promising results. Seasonal variation played an important role. Stem cuttings planted just after winter (February ) gave better results. h. diversifolia and h. leucocephala seed germinations were not significantly influenced by the various media , but growth characteristics responded well to compost and sand included media by both of the varieties. h. diversi folia when planted on raised bed alley provided wit hearty nourishment and protective irrigation adapted well under the given agro-environment. G. sepium and L leucocephala pruned at height one meter and 60 cm respectively survived the dry spell and produced higher biomass in response to the moisture availability. G. sepium also responded well to stem bending (Agobiada) treatment and hence can be effective method in making a living fence in the farm.
