This study presents a detailed data base design analysis of Cricket Statistics using the relational and the hierarchical approach. These models, have been designed based on a set of logical views and user queries existing in the field of study. The cricket statistics data base was chosen because of the complexity of queries involved. The relational model has been implemented using IBM's Query- By-Example data base management system and has successfully answered the objective of the study. This system offers inter-active facilities to create, modify and delete the data base. The hierarchical model has used IBM's Information Management System for defining, and creating the hierarchical data base. This system offers a batch programming environment, unlike the relational system.
