These effects were studied on pore water pressure, the lateral subsoil movements, the heave and horizontal movements of the ground surface. A total no of 25 sand drains, 30 cm in diameter and about 6 m. in length, were installed at a contre to centre spacing of 1.2 m. Before the installation the test site was equipped with piezometers, inclinometers and wooden stakes. The results indicated high pore pressures and large heave of the ground surface.
