Field test were conducted to study deposition characteristic of electrostatic spinning disc sprayer compared to hydraulic, CDA and shrouded electrostatic sprayer on rice, soybean and com. Fluorometric analysis was used to determine deposition density on both side of leaves at three leaf levels. Droplet density at these levels were determined using water sensitive papers and pocket lens. The other experiments were to study the effect of charge and height on drift, and the battery life. Result showed that sprayer with charging system deposited more sprays on rice and soybean. Due to charging, total deposition increased 1.9 fold on rice and 1.5 fold on soybean. There was no increase in deposition due to charging on corn. Charging increased droplet density on all crops. The increase due to charging was 2 fold on rice, soybean and corn. Experiments showed that all sprayers gave significant amount of underside deposition. Charging increased underside deposition on rice by 1.2 fold. However, there were no increase in underside deposition due to charging or sprayer type on other crops. Drift was affected by height of application and charging. Drift increased linearly with height of application. Charging reduced drift by 16.4%. Eight dry cell batteries can be used continuously up to 5 hours only.
