  <abstract>A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the design parameters of a mole drainage system with application to Bangkok clay where clay content was found to be 48%. Mole drains were drawn at 3 different depths of 3 different spacings i.e. 2, 3 and 4 m spacing mole drains at 40, 50 and 60 cm depths, having a 7.62 cm diameter torpedo. For each depth and spacing four mole drains were drawn per plot. The ground surface slope was 1%. There were totally five experimental plots of different combinations of mole drains. The force required to draw the mole plow at three different  depths was found to be greater than 3 tonnes. Mole drainage behaviour was evaluated in terms of the basic infiltration rate and the outflow characteristics. It was found that mole drains constructed at 50 cm depth of 3 m spacing were more stable and more effective in terms of extent of fissures  and cracks and outflow behaviour. </abstract>
