The stability of the natural slope along the bank of the Pasak river downstream of Phranaret lock was investigated. Laboratory and field tests were carried out to obtain parameters for stability analysis of this stiff soil slope. Stability of the slope was analysed using the simplified Bishop method for 6 assumed conditions of ground water and water in the river. Results of the analysis show that steady seepage and sudden drawdown conditions, which occuring during the rainy season, were the critical factors causing failure . The calculated factors of safety were 0. 94 and 0. 83 for the steady seepage and the sudden drawdown conditions, respectively.
