Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1984 N2 - The purpose of this research is to study the electricity demand and to identity the model that is best suited for Pakistan, The study focuses on the demand for electricity under the influence of price, economic growth and stock of appliances and their rate of utilisation. A log-linear formulation for the sectorial demand of electricity is used to identify the economic significance of different input variables. Balck-box approach of extrapolating past trends in load growth has also been used. Finally it is concluded that sophisticated econometric models are not suited for Pakistan because of its unique behaviour of economic-structure and internal affairs.
