Currently, many people may accustom and may use the technology to position themselves, which the technology that has the ability to position this accurately is called GPS. GPS is used in many applications, one of them is tracking vehicles. GPS tracking devices for vehicle car are used in the various consumer because GPS trackers can help to operation and inspection without a field survey. The use of GPS in public transport systems is interesting, which one of the most popular public transport services today is taxis. In the present, GPS is used to track and monitor the driving behavior of taxi drivers widely because taxi drivers have different driving behavior, both normal driving, and unsafe driving behavior. Thus, it useful to improve taxi service. Therefore, this thesis work aimed to study about driving behavior of taxi driver that passenger encountered and use the GPS receivers to detect the driving behavior of taxi driver. In this study, many devices were used to test the ability to collect the GPS signals, and monitor the driving behavior. There are three objectives in this study which are; 1) to study the driving behavior of taxi driver using questionnaire survey, 2) to field test the GPS receivers, and 3) to assess the accuracy of the data obtained from GPS receivers. From these objectives, this thesis makes the criteria to detect unsafe driving behavior. Moreover, this study will show the driving behavior that passenger feel unsafe which are Over the speed limit, Sudden lane change and Sudden braking, and show the accuracy value and issues when collect the data in field survey in each device. Finally, this thesis show the percentage of accuracy of each device for detecting unsafe driving behavior which JA V AD GNSS is the best device to detect driving behavior of driver.
