When it comes to positioning of the receiver there area lot of commercial software available in the market now a days. These software even give better and accurate results but when it comes to understanding of software that one uses how many can guarantee the complete understanding of the software ? This paper intendsat understanding of methods related to point positioning system and try to write own code in order to have a better insight of parameters related to it. The main aim is to study how the GPS technology and data structure with the IGS station involved with it. Then understand the structure of RINEXobservation and RINEXnavigation file inorder to create own algorithm to process data. Study of orbital physics to find satellite position and receiver position and other useful parameters related to it. Mechanismof positioning system like least mean square method and write own algorithm to find positioning details. Results will be shown in graph and plots got from point positioning data analysis
