This work is concerned with the use of simulation in management of Lead Time and Work-in Process in an assembly line. The case study is applied to DongDa Viettronic Company, Vietnam. The major problems on the assembly lines in the company are the unbalances of operation and low efficiency those caused by lack of Work-in-Process control and the difference in processing times of the workstation as well as. As a consequence, some amounts of work in process are accumulated and exceed buffer storage between workstation, the manufacturing lead time is increased and throughput rate of the line is reduced. To improve the operation of the line, a simulation model is developed of the system to analyze the performance measures. On basic of simulation results the study recommends some alternatives in order to improve the system to obtained better performance measures. The results are then compared and the better designs on different performance measure can be considered in decision making.
