A general environmental audit/ was . carried out and recommendations offered in order to help management meet requirements of the green hotel concept based on ISO 14000. The acceptable environmental situation from the audit is characterized by noise level and treated wastewater quality meeting standard, zero discharging of wastewater and effluent, efficient land using and no land pollution, good welfare and fire control systems. Inefficient water and energy consumption, CFC emission from air conditioning systems and refrigerators presently do not meet the standards of the green concept. Such modification and improvement are, consequently, required. Inadequate procurement system and solid waste management, lack of environmental management, no attention initiated on environmental activity are obstacles to environmental management system (EMS) development. By taking the recommendations and the EMS model into account, given adequate manpower resource and especially, obtaining commitment from top management, the hotel can move positively towards ISO 14000 certification UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B12730 ER -
